Introduction of AMD Instinct MI300 Series AI Accelerator Chips
AMD has officially introduced its AI accelerator chips called Instinct MI300 Series. The series includes two models: Instinct MI300X, designed to compete with Nvidia's GPU H100, and Instinct MI300A, which rivals Nvidia Grace Hopper. Instinct MI300X combines multiple chiplets using advanced technologies like 3D stacking and 3.5D packaging, offering impressive specifications such as 304 compute units, 192 GB HBM3 memory, and 5.3 TB per second bandwidth. Instinct MI300A, the world's first data center APU, features a combination of CPU and GPU in a single package, providing 24 CPU cores, 228 compute units, and 128 GB HBM3 memory. Both chips have been shipped to OEM partners, but their prices were not disclosed by AMD.
