Facebook's Meta Implements End-to-End Encryption for Messenger and Facebook
The parent company of Facebook, Meta, has fulfilled its promise to enhance security for all Messenger and Facebook users. Starting now, all conversations on Messenger and Facebook will be encrypted by default using end-to-end encryption (E2EE). This means that only the sender and recipient can access the message content. Meta has worked extensively with experts, academics, lawyers, and governments to ensure privacy and security while preserving other features like themes and custom reactions. The implementation of E2EE will be gradual, and Instagram, another social media platform owned by Meta, is expected to receive a similar feature soon.
