Sharp's Strategy to Sell High-End Phones in Indonesia
The Indonesian government has increased the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) requirement for selling smartphones in the country. Sharp, a Japanese company, has found a way to sell its high-end phones in Indonesia by partnering with an assembly company located in Cikarang, instead of establishing its own factory. This strategy allows Sharp to meet the TKDN requirement. However, the process still takes time due to various checks and audits. Sharp hopes that the TKDN requirement can be eliminated to expedite the sales process. Despite facing challenges, Sharp manages to fulfill the TKDN percentage and sell its phones in Indonesia.
