Jokowi: Indonesia Needs $1 Trillion Investment for Net Zero Emission by 2060
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) stated that Indonesia requires an investment of approximately $1 trillion to achieve the target of net zero emissions by 2060. He emphasized the need for collaboration with friendly nations and the private sector to reach this goal. Jokowi invited bilateral partners, private investments, philanthropic support, and friendly countries to collaborate. He mentioned Indonesia's innovative financing platforms such as carbon markets, energy transition mechanisms, green bonds and sukuk, as well as environmental funds. Jokowi also called for increased funding capacity with low interest rates from global development banks. He highlighted that solving the funding issue is crucial to achieving the Paris Agreement target and net zero emissions. Jokowi also shared Indonesia's achievements in reducing carbon emissions and deforestation, emphasizing efforts in forest preservation and expanding renewable energy development.
