Jokowi Claims Indonesia's Success in Reducing Emissions at COP28 Summit
President Joko Widodo, during a bilateral meeting with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre at the World Climate Action Summit (WCAS) COP28 in Dubai, stated that Indonesia has successfully reduced emissions through global-recognized forest conservation and degradation control. However, Jokowi expressed concern over the unfulfilled result-based payment commitments for these achievements. He also addressed doubts from some European countries regarding Indonesia's commitment to forest and environmental preservation. The meeting also discussed investment cooperation, including Norway's participation in the Just Energy Transition Partnership and development of the Forest-Based Smart City. Jokowi also sought Norway's contribution to peace solutions in Gaza.
