Indonesia Successfully Reduces Carbon Emissions by 42%: Jokowi
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) highlighted Indonesia's success in reducing carbon emissions from 2020 to 2022 at COP28 Dubai. He stated that Indonesia has achieved a 42% reduction in carbon emissions compared to the 2015 Business as Usual (BAU) plan. President Jokowi emphasized efforts to improve Forest and Other Land Use (FOLU) management and accelerate the transition to renewable energy. Deforestation has reached its lowest point in the past 20 years, and large-scale reforestation initiatives have been effective. The government is also pursuing a just energy transition, expanding renewable energy sources, and decreasing coal usage. President Jokowi called for over $1 trillion in investment support from bilateral partners, private investors, philanthropy, and friendly nations to achieve net-zero emissions by 2060.
