Amazon Web Services Introduces New AI Chips, Trainium2 and Graviton4
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced two new artificial intelligence (AI) chips, Trainium2 and Graviton4, at the annual "re:Invent" event in Las Vegas, California. These chips are successors to Trainium1 and Graviton3, introduced last year. Trainium2 is a high-performance AI chip designed to enhance machine learning (ML), large language models (LLMs), and other AI processing tasks. It accelerates the performance of foundational and LLM-based AI models, particularly in Generative AI. Graviton4, on the other hand, is an ARM-based AI chip designed for various corporate-level AI applications, such as databases, analytics, web servers, batch processing, and microservices on the Amazon EC2 platform. It offers increased core count and memory capacity compared to Graviton3, resulting in 30% faster computational performance. Trainium2 will be available for purchase next year, while Graviton4 will be accessible to interested companies in the coming months.
