Xiaomi's HyperOS: New UI for a Range of Devices
Xiaomi's new user interface (UI), HyperOS, is currently available exclusively on the Xiaomi 14 series. However, Xiaomi plans to roll out HyperOS to a broader range of devices in the future. At least nine Xiaomi devices are slated to receive HyperOS, and they are currently part of the global internal testing phase for the new UI.
These nine Xiaomi devices include the standard Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13 Pro, Xiaomi 13 Ultra, Xiaomi 13T Pro, Xiaomi 13T, Xiaomi 12T Pro, Xiaomi 12T, Xiaomi 11T, and Xiaomi Pad 6. Additionally, other Xiaomi phone models, such as the Xiaomi 12T Pro and Xiaomi 11T, will also receive the new UI as an alternative to MiUI.
It's not just smartphones; there are reports that Xiaomi tablets, including the Xiaomi Pad 6, will also be getting the HyperOS update. However, the specific public release schedule has not been disclosed yet.
Some of these Xiaomi devices are officially available in Indonesia, such as the Xiaomi 11T, Xiaomi 12T, Xiaomi Pad 6, and the latest addition, Xiaomi 13T. Given that these devices are part of the global HyperOS testing, it's possible that users in Indonesia will also receive the new interface update.
Looking ahead, HyperOS will become available for other Xiaomi devices, including those from Xiaomi's sub-brands, Poco and Redmi.
New Features in HyperOS
HyperOS was introduced alongside the Xiaomi 14 series in an event titled "Leap Beyond the Moment" on October 26. The introduction of HyperOS marks the retirement of the MiUI interface, which has been accompanying Xiaomi products and its sub-brands (Poco and Redmi) for the past 13 years.
Xiaomi states that the core of Xiaomi HyperOS is built on Linux and the Xiaomi Vela system, developed in-house by Xiaomi. The foundational layer of Xiaomi HyperOS supports over 200 processor platforms and more than 20 standard file systems, encompassing hundreds of device types and thousands of SKUs.
Thanks to this extensive support, HyperOS is claimed to work efficiently across various devices, regardless of their RAM size. Xiaomi notes that HyperOS is compatible with devices having RAM sizes as small as 64KB and as large as 24GB.
One of the key advantages of Xiaomi HyperOS is its lightweight nature, with the system firmware occupying only 8.75 GB of storage on smart devices.
