Samsung's Upcoming Mid-Range Smartphone: Galaxy A15
Samsung is reportedly preparing to launch its latest mid-range smartphone from the A-series, the Galaxy A15. This device is set to follow the Galaxy A14, which was released in early January 2023.
According to the latest leaks, the Galaxy A15 is expected to feature a 6.5-inch OLED display with HD Plus resolution and a 90 Hz refresh rate. This information was shared by a gadget tipster named Paras Guglani on his personal Twitter account.
If these leaks are accurate, the Galaxy A15 will bring a significant improvement to its display. Its predecessor used a PLS LCD panel with a 60 Hz refresh rate.
In terms of performance, the Galaxy A15 is rumored to ditch the Exynos 850 chip seen in the Galaxy A14 and instead opt for the MediaTek Dimensity 6100 Plus. This new chip boasts two CPU Cortex-A77 cores clocked at 2.2 GHz, six CPU Cortex-A55 cores at 2 GHz, and a Mali G57 MC2 GPU.
The Dimensity 6000 Plus chip is expected to be paired with either 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD up to 1 TB. The tipster also revealed that the Galaxy A15 will come with three rear cameras, retaining the same configuration as the Galaxy A14: a 50 MP main camera, a 5 MP ultra-wide camera, a 2 MP macro camera, and a 13 MP front camera. The design of the Galaxy A15's rear will remain unchanged, with the three rear cameras positioned vertically and integrated directly into the back without a camera bump.
As for the rumored price of the Samsung Galaxy A15, it's expected to start at around Rp 2 million. Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner integrated with the power button, Android 14, a 5,000 mAh battery with 25W fast charging, USB-C port, 5G connectivity, dual-SIM support, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
According to online rumors, the Galaxy A15 will come in two colors, Black and Blue. The starting price is estimated to be around $150, which is approximately Rp 2.4 million.
Considering its predecessor, the Galaxy A14, was released in January 2023, if Samsung follows a similar release schedule, the Galaxy A15 is likely to be launched in January 2024. However, it's important to note that the information provided is based on leaks, so the actual specifications and pricing of the device may vary.
